Best Fertilizer for Succulents and Cacti

Use a succulent-specific fertilizer or balanced 10-10-10 diluted to quarter strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer only). Many succulent growers use a 2-7-7 ratio to promote root and bloom development over stretchy stem growth. Never fertilize dormant succulents in winter. Over-fertilization causes etiolated (stretched), weak growth. Less fertilizer produces more compact, colorful plants.
