When to Fertilize Blueberries by Season

Penn State Extension

Fertilize blueberries in early spring at budbreak (typically March-April depending on zone) and again 6 weeks later. Never apply fertilizer after July 1, late nitrogen stimulates tender growth vulnerable to winter damage. For newly planted bushes, wait 4-6 weeks after planting before first application. Established bushes receive the full annual dose split between these two applications.
