When to Stop Fertilizing Houseplants for Winter

Stop fertilizing most houseplants in October as growth slows with decreasing daylight. Resume in March when days lengthen and new growth appears. Exceptions: Christmas cactus and cyclamen are winter bloomers, fertilize them during their active season (fall/winter). Plants under grow lights with consistent photoperiods may continue slow feeding year-round at quarter strength.
